Univa Expands Cloud Management Capabilities With Planning and Analytics Product

Univa UD, a leading provider of software solutions for enabling dynamic
IT environments, today announced a new analytics product, UniPlan, to
ensure optimal utilization of expensive commercial applications in
cluster or cloud computing environments.
UniPlan simulates the project workload for a specific application and
then performs detailed scenario analyses to identify potential
bottlenecks or performance gaps. With the data provided by UniPlan,
users can determine ideal application utilization profiles and resource
allocation or license purchase decisions to derive the greatest possible
value from these costly applications.
For example, UniPlan can simulate adding or removing a single
application license on a private cloud to illustrate the effect on the
workload, the project and the overall utilization of the system and
applications.

UniPlan is powered by WorkloadAnalyzer™ from Runtime Design

workload analysis and compute farm/cluster planning tool,
WorkloadAnalyzer takes historical workloads from existing licensing
monitoring or workload management tools such as Sun Grid Engine,
Platform LSF, or RTDA's Network Computer (NC) and then models a
particular compute farm or cluster configuration to simulate workload
over this model.
