Medversant Files Lawsuit Against Morrissey Associates for Patent Infringement

Medversant Technologies LLC, (www.medversant.com), the company that changed the paradigm in provider credentialing with AutoVerifi (U.S. Patent 7,529,682), has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Morrissey Associates in the United States District Court for Central District of California, involving the use of Web-based technology to automate the process of credentialing.

“Chicago-based Morrissey has been marketing the process in question as Morrissey MSOW,” says Philip Collias, JD, General Counsel for Medversant. “It is evident from their advertising that they are marketing for sale a process that is consistent with our AutoVerifi™ process, which is utilized by health plans, hospitals, state Medicaid programs and other healthcare organizations to continuously credential the providers who provide healthcare services.”

Medversant’s breakthrough technology patent has advanced the company's position in provider data management and covers technologies that allow healthcare organizations to manage provider information. It is a foundational patent for the company and provides for a system for storing, continually verifying, and retrieving credentials records in a global network environment.

“Medversant invested significant resources into developing and securing intellectual property protection for this novel process,” Collias adds. “This patent underscores Medversant's strength in healthcare technology, application services and process re-engineering. To have other companies attempt to commandeer our patented solutions compromises our efforts to build and reinforce Medversant’s position as an innovator and leader in healthcare technology.”

Because of the amount of data that healthcare facilities must collect and verify, an automated system is essential for providing a cost-effective solution for this otherwise costly and time consuming process. Medversant has created pockets of efficiency in the provider data management area by setting up clearinghouses in which provider data is centralized and accessed by numerous stakeholders. Medversant’s AutoVerifi™ is utilized throughout the United States and is a key component of Medversant’s OneSource, ClaimGard™, MedMonitored™, and HRSource™ solutions.

Matthew Haddad, Medversant’s President and CEO, adds, “We deliver an innovative solution that is solving real customer problems and driving the achievement of continuous real-time credentials verification.”
