ARLINGTON, VA -- (Marketwire) -- 07/27/09 -- Vangent, Inc., a leading global provider of information management and strategic business process outsourcing solutions, today announced that it will open a new facility in Sandy, UT to support operations for the 2010 Census. The facility will function as a call center and will serve as an information resource and hotline for U.S. citizens who have questions about how to complete the 2010 Census form and general questions about the Census. Other work performed at this location includes outbound calls to gather information for incomplete forms or to verify data. Vangent, Inc. is part of the Lockheed Martin-led Decennial Response Integration System (DRIS) program team responsible for the people, process, technology and infrastructure for the United States' 2010 Census. "We are very excited about opening this new facility," said Mac Curtis, President and CEO of Vangent. "We looked at several locations across the country, but Sandy, UT really stood out because of its high quality workforce. We were fortunate to find a turnkey facility that will be quickly operational with minimal preparations." The facility will be located at 8475 South Sandy Parkway, Sandy UT, convenient to the freeway and accessible to public transportation. The site will offer free and secure parking for employees. It will be ready for occupancy in early October 2009. In January 2010, Vangent plans to hire approximately 1,200 call center staff at the Sandy site comprised of both full- and part-time employees. Vangent will host several open houses and job fairs where prospective employees can submit their applications and learn more about the 2010 Census. Ideal candidates include full- or part-time job seekers, such as retirees, college students and unemployed persons. Off-hour schedules and foreign language speaking agents will receive additional differential pay. Vangent is an equal opportunity employer and seeks to hire a diverse workforce to support this effort. To be eligible for employment, potential candidates must:
-- Pass a security check that includes fingerprinting
-- Have at least a high school diploma
-- Be legally able to work in the United States (Two-year residency)
-- Be able to read and speak English fluently
-- Sign a sworn statement to protect Census data
-- Pass a skill assessment test for the desired position
Employees will receive comprehensive training for their respective positions. Since the Census must accommodate several foreign languages, bi-lingual candidates fluent in written and spoken Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean or Russian will receive additional compensation.
