i-Technology News Plumtree Plumbs Developers with EDK Extensions
Serves Java and .NET Communities

Plumtree Software has announced its Enterprise Web
Development Kit (EDK) extensions for integrating systems of records such as
PeopleSoft, SAP and Siebel. This kit consists of code samples and templates to
enable developers to rapidly create integration portlet services with the user
interface of their choice. In turn, these portlets in turn form
service-oriented building blocks for creating composite applications which may
can be delivered through the Plumtree Corporate Portal. Unlike competing integration solutions which either have “canned,” inflexible
user interfaces or overwhelming development complexity, Plumstree says that EDK
extensions provide useful starting points for building portlets without placing
any restrictions on the user interface. Plumtree’s EDK extensions help companies
tap into the services and functionality of their existing ERP and CRM systems.
As a result, more users are able to access these applications while
organizations are able to experience greater ROI from their enterprise system
investment. Comprised of APIs, documentation and sample code, the EDK affords developers
the unique ability to build portlets and Web services for the portal in both
Java and . NET-based environments. “Plumtree’s EDK extensions provide enterprise application developers the
blueprints for creating portlet based services to tap into back-end systems
such as PeopleSoft, SAP and Siebel,” said Girish Balasubramanian, product line
marketing manager at Plumtree Software. “Integration and service-enablement has
always been a key strength for us. With our open architecture, we empower
enterprises to choose to work with applications that are right for their
business rather than locking them into a single back-end vendor.” The EDK extensions balance superior flexibility with time-to-deployment by
offering: • Siebel portlets for two key functions: view a Account and
view and update opportunities • PeopleSoft portlets for human resource management system:
view paycheck information, update personal information, update dependent
beneficiary information • Portlet code for customization • Documentation • QuickStart guide for installation and configuration • Support by developer support Reader Feedback: Page 1 of 1
