Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

MuleSource Announces SAP Transport for Mule ESB
Open Source Community Project Simplifies Application Integration, Cuts Software Costs for SAP Users

MuleSource is pleased to announce a new SAP transport for Mule ESB, a community contribution from MuleSource partner Osaka Gas Information System Research Institute Co., Ltd (OGIS), a Mule ESB reseller in Japan. The SAP Transport for Mule 2 is now available for download on MuleForge, the industry's most comprehensive hub for integration transports and adapters.

"SAP is the market-leading ERP player, with a dominant deployment footprint in more than 120 countries globally," said Yuji Yamano of OGIS, and project lead for the SAP Transport. "The SAP Transport for Mule 2 brings the power and simplicity of Mule ESB to the countless IT organizations that need to integrate their core SAP systems with other applications and services."

The SAP Transport for Mule 2 provides connectivity with SAP ERP 6.0. Users can send a XML message that is equivalent to a BAPI function request and receive a XML message that is equivalent to a BAPI function response. The transport uses RFC and BAPI calls via JCO (SAP Java Connector) provided by SAP.

"For many years, IT organizations have relied on expensive and heavyweight proprietary integration solutions or custom code to move data in and out of their SAP applications," said Ross Mason, CTO and co-founder of MuleSource. "This new MuleForge project dramatically improves the cost equation for SAP users, and once again demonstrates the power of the Mule community."
