Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Leading Online TV Provider Expands Presence with Telx
Larger footprint accommodates business expansion

Telx, one of the largest domestic interconnection and colocation data center operators, announced today that one of the leading Web-based video providers, Justin.tv, has expanded its presence in Telx's facility at 200 Paul Avenue in San Francisco. The expansion facilitates uninterrupted, enhanced quality, live video feeds from a greater community base than Justin.tv has enjoyed previously.

Justin.tv is the largest online community for people to broadcast, watch, and interact with live video. With more than 41 million unique visitors per month and over 600,000 channels broadcasting live video, Justin.tv is the leading live video site on the Web, enabling users to create real-time connections with others around the world.

"The Internet is the newest publishing house for content produced worldwide, and consumers expect a high-quality experience every time they interact with online media technologies," said Michael Siebel, CEO of JustinTV. "As the top live online, with some of the most engaged users who are watching streaming video, we must continue to give our customers the most valuable experience possible with minimal viewing disruption. By colocating our servers with Telx, we have the ability to connect directly to the widest number of carriers available in the market today and ensure maximum uptime for our service."

Telx provides both colocation space as well as numerous interconnections to Justin.tv. To ensure high quality feeds, Justin.tv requires low latency connections to a wide variety of local carriers for redundancy. Should one carrier delivering streaming video suddenly go down, Justin.tv's traffic can be automatically re-routed to another carrier with whom they are interconnected, with little if any disruption of service for customers.

"Justin.tv's rapid expansion shows us just how pervasive social networking has become in our culture," said Eric Shepcaro, CEO for Telx. "By choosing Telx colocation and connectivity solutions, Justin.tv ensures the highest availability and quality for their streaming videos. Customers who rely on Justin.tv's service will not be disappointed."
