Phoenix HyperSpace to Be Bundled with Intel Atom
Joint effort signals industry-wide adoption of HyperSpace for Intel Atom processor users

Phoenix Technologies, a provider of PC 3.0(TM) products, services and embedded technologies, today announced an agreement to distribute HyperSpace, an instant-on computing environment, with Intel(R) Desktop Boards featuring the integrated Intel(R) Atom(TM) processors 230 and 330 . These Intel motherboards with HyperSpace technology will be available worldwide in CYQ42009. The agreement means that millions of nettop users and other low-cost, light-weight computing devices powered by Intel's market-leading Atom processors can enjoy the same high levels of efficiency, fun and ease-of-use that HyperSpace brings to laptop and netbook users.

The distribution agreement pairs the leading maker of processors for PCs, notebooks, netbooks and nettops with the groundbreaking HyperSpace computing environment, which delivers instant-on, always-connected access to the Internet and key productivity applications such as HyperSpace Office Suite, Adobe Photoshop, Hulu, McAfee, Real Networks, Yahoo Search, etc. The collaboration will result in a shorter development cycle and faster time to market for OEMs and system builders to deliver nettops that are instant-on, secure and easy to use.

The Intel Atom processor is the leading CPU in the nettop market segment. "Intel and Phoenix are jointly working to meet consumer expectations from small form factor computing devices," said consumer computing analyst Tim Barjarin of Creative Strategies. "By pre-integrating HyperSpace with Intel Atom processor-based nettop boards, they are enabling products that deliver end users connectivity, versatility and usability."

Distributing HyperSpace with Intel's Atom processor technology will help ensure a positive user experience for the millions of consumers who adopt Atom-powered nettops and other computing devices. HyperSpace dramatically simplifies and improves the computing experience in multiple ways to enable users to achieve new levels of productivity. Based on the Moblin Linux kernel, HyperSpace boots up and powers down in seconds, giving users almost instant access to important web-based applications. And its colorful, graphical interface enhances ease-of-use, helping users quickly navigate the web.
