Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Adobe Unveils Flash Platform Services
The widgetry is supposed to let developers add capabilities that make their apps “sharable, social, and collaborative”

Adobe has put out what it calls Flash Platform Services for Distribution, an online, hosted, pay-per-use service for advertisers and content publishers to promote, measure and monetize web applications and games across social networks, desktops and mobile devices.

The widgetry is supposed to let developers add capabilities that make their apps "sharable, social, and collaborative" in both free and paid cross-promotion models.

Adobe went to Gigya Inc for its social media authentication and distribution platform. It includes a unified management tool that's supposed to turn the trick.

The new Flash Platform Service is supposed to make apps shareable and hence virally distributed in a single click.

It's also supposed to distribute shareable apps to multiple mobile platforms. Traditional and social media analytics are available through the Distribution Manager, an application built using Adobe AIR software, to promote applications, and measure distribution and customer usage.

Later this year, Adobe is supposed to make the Social part of the service available. It's supposed to let developers connect Flash applications more easily with social networks such as Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and Yahoo.

It says they will only have to write an application once to provide users a choice of which social network to access through the application and the Social service will monitor each social network site to ensure that changes to the network don't break the applications.

Abode figures publishers and developers can generate revenue through cross-promotion of other web applications. When users click to download an application, this feature enables publishers and developers to offer another web application to the user.

The Wall Street Journal Radio Network, which provides audio business news reports and programs to more than 370 radio stations across the country and reaches more than 22 million listeners a week, will provide its affiliates with new business news web tools for use on their own sites as well as for individual use. The new widget, expected to be available soon, will offer content from WSJ Radio and WSJ.com, including podcasts, live audio business news updates from the Wall Street Journal Report and the Dow Jones Money Report, as well as updated headlines and video, and will be available for users to view and share via social networking sites and blogs.
