Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Host.net Extends Colocation Services to Atlanta with Telx
New Cloud Computing & Storage Solutions Will Also Be Deployed On-Site

Key Highlights:

  • Host.net expands its footprint in Telx's 56 Marietta Street facility with new services.
  • Telx gains a new managed services provider for its Atlanta-based customers.
  • Host.net adds colocation and cloud computing/storage offerings for greater Atlanta market.

Telx, one of the largest and fastest-growing interconnection and colocation data center operators, announced today that Florida-based Host.net is expanding its space in Telx's facility at 56 Marietta Street in Atlanta to bring new colocation, cloud computing, and storage services to businesses in greater Atlanta. The building, owned by Telx, is a 160,000-square-foot dedicated carrier-hotel as well as an interconnection and colocation facility that is home to the Southeast's largest concentration of telecommunication companies. Host.net has used the facility as a point of presence (PoP) since 2005.

The agreement gives Host.net its first colocation, cloud computing, and storage facility outside of Florida, broadening the network infrastructure services previously available to Atlanta customers as well as benefiting Florida-based colocation customers who require secondary sites out-of-state. Businesses that take advantage of the option to colocate in Telx's Atlanta facility will be locating their servers in one of the most densely populated interconnection sites with access to the largest amount of fiber in Georgia.

In addition, the agreement gives Telx customers colocated in Atlanta another choice of providers for other managed network services, including Host.net's business continuity and disaster recovery, metro Ethernet connectivity, MPLS networks, multinational transport, Internet access, and cloud computing and storage services.

"Host.net has a significant customer base in greater Atlanta and surrounding areas," said Jeff Davis, co-founder and CEO of Host.net. "Expanding our footprint in Telx's 56 Marietta Street facility will enable us to offer a wider portfolio of services to both current and new customers in the local market."

The agreement also extends Host.net's relationship with Telx, which also includes PoPs for Host.net's 10G multinational network in Telx facilities in Phoenix; San Francisco; and New York.

"Host.net offers southeastern United States customers a wide variety of managed network services that complement Telx's prime colocation and interconnection facilities," said William Kolman, Executive Vice President of Sales for Telx. "We're pleased to extend our relationship with them to offer a comprehensive suite of networking services to our Atlanta-based customers."
