Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Nine OCE-Supported Companies Recognized at Deloitte Technology's Fast 50(TM) Awards

TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 10/07/09 -- Nine OCE-supported companies have been recognized at this year's Deloitte Technology Fast 50(TM)Awards, representing almost 20 percent of all Ontario companies selected.

EION Wireless (Ottawa), ARISE Technologies (Waterloo), DragonWave Inc. (Kanata), Research in Motion (Waterloo), Desire2Learn Incorporated (Kitchener-Waterloo) and BTI Systems (Ottawa) all made the Deloitte Technology Fast 50(TM) list based on their past five years revenue growth.

Aeryon Labs (Waterloo) and OneChip Photonics (Ottawa) were also recognized in Deloitte's Companies-to-Watch Awards. These awards honour early-stage Canadian technology companies who have been in business less than five years.

Vive Nano (Toronto), another OCE-supported company, was acknowledged in Deloitte's Green 15(TM), awarded to companies who use innovative technologies to create products and services that compete with existing products and services on price and performance while reducing impact on the environment.

David Choat, Interim OCE President and CEO, said Deloitte's recognition of these innovative Ontario companies speaks directly to the importance of partnerships and collaboration in creating economic prosperity within the province.

"I would like to congratulate the Ontario companies recognized at this year's Deloitte Technology Fast 50(TM)Awards," said David. "Together, they represent the brilliant ideas, entrepreneurial spirit and innovative thinking that's driving our province forward and making a better future for all Ontarians."
