Black Diamond Video, Inc. (BDV) announces that Yale-New Haven Hospital has selected BDV to install their state-of-the-art Integrated Digital Surgical Suites (IDSS) into their neurosurgical suite and gastrointestinal suites in the new Smilow Cancer Center. The integration of each IDSS DVI video and audio solution will enhance the quality and efficiency of care delivered by Yale’s gastroenterological, neurosurgical, nursing, radiology, and clinical engineering teams by providing high-resolution digital video routing, audio routing, multi-windowing, conferencing and collaboration capabilities. Yale's high-end operating rooms will house advanced gastroenterological procedures, including endoscopic ultrasound and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). Priya Jamidar, M.D., Professor of Medicine, Director of Endoscopy at Yale, and expert practitioner of ERCP, commented, “We are impressed with Black Diamond Video’s Integrated Digital Surgical Suite and look forward to utilizing our state-of-the-art procedure rooms to offer the highest level of care to our patients and to enhance our teaching program.” All of the IDSS’ sophisticated features may be easily controlled via a user-friendly touch panel interface. High-resolution digital media content that the IDSS produces in the operating room may be effectively managed through a central repository. BDV’s cutting-edge technology provides an all-DVI video-processing infrastructure, which is scalable, future-proof and unmatched in video quality and resolution. Ed Priest, Founder and CEO of BDV, commented: “When accuracy is of the greatest importance, you need to be able to trust your technology completely. Black Diamond Video’s IDSS provides the digital video quality and control that are paramount for the complex surgeries that will be conducted within the Smilow Cancer Center.” BDV will begin installation of its IDSS in November 2009, and promptly complete installation in January 2010. Yale-New Haven Hospital, ranked one of the best hospitals in the country according to the 2009-2010 US News and World Report, will be opening its new Smilow Cancer Center in January 2010, as the latest investment in its world-class oncology, surgical and imaging services.
