Parasoft Corporation, leading provider of automated error prevention solutions, has announced the general release of Parasoft C++Test 6.5, an automated unit testing and coding standard analysis tool suite designed to help software engineers prevent the occurrence of software errors as they develop. C++Test 6.5 extends the product’s powerful ability to find and resolve critical software errors in C/C++ code with enhancements to both code analysis and unit testing as wells as increased platform and team support. With Parasoft C++Test 6.5 software source code can now be validated against nearly 600 C/C++ coding standards and guidelines that reflect industry standard best practices in code design and construction that address code reliability, performance, maintainability, and security. C++Test 6.5 includes a new rule set based on the C++ coding standards book by Sutter and Alexandrescu. A new RuleWizard Autocreator is provided, expanding the options for creating custom coding rules. The Autocreator allows users to easily create their own custom rules or guidelines by simply providing RuleWizard a sample of “bad C or C++ code” as the guideline for automatic rule creation. C++Test 6.5 is available for Linux, Solaris and Windows NT/2000/XP. Unit tests can now be automatically generated in C or C++ source code allowing easy customization and enhanced ability to maintain them under source control. The new unit test engine also allows direct import and execution of existing CppUnit test cases. Among other unit test enhancements are extended capabilities of importing data sets for test case generation, stub management, and automated refactoring of test cases. C++Test 6.5 extends support for embedded software development efforts by adding support for the Green Hills MULTI 4.0 complier and IDE. "This new release of C++Test is a significant step forward for us in test technology, providing capabilities to automatically generate and maintain unit test cases in C or C++ source," said Sergei Sokolov, Parasoft C++Test Product Manager. "Developers always want to have complete control over the tests after they are generated, and our version 6.5 gives them precisely that. The release contains a wealth of other added functionality aimed at better integration into popular development environments and flows."
