Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen’s Vulcan Capital, has raised a $6.75 million

Gist, a beta-phase e-mail start-up kicked off by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen’s Vulcan Capital, has raised a $6.75 million first round led by the Foundry Group. Its widgetry combines e-mails with the latest news about contacts taken from blog posts, social networking sires and Tweets sort of like Xobni. Vulcan has also put money in Xiant, another e-mail start-up, this one with an add-on that files Outlook mail based on previously preferences.
