Senator Judd Gregg to Receive Concord Coalition Award and Discuss the Economic Outlook

WASHINGTON, Nov. 17 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Concord Coalition will present U.S. Senator Judd Gregg (R - New Hampshire), with the Paul E. Tsongas Economic Patriot Award at The Concord Coalition's Sixteenth Annual Economic Patriots Dinner. The Dinner will be held on Wednesday evening, November 18, 2009, at The Pierre in New York City.

In honoring Senator Gregg with this award, The Concord Coalition said: "Judd Gregg has carved out his own niche as a budget hawk and a forceful advocate for sustainable budgets and federal fiscal policy. Now completing his third term as a U.S. Senator, Judd Gregg lists at the top of his accomplishments 'promoting responsible federal spending.' And throughout his Senate career, he has been recognized as the kind of teller of hard truths that The Concord Coalition admires."

"I am honored to be this year's recipient of the Economic Patriot Award," Senator Gregg said. "Like the Concord Coalition, I believe that each generation has the responsibility to pass along to the next generation a fiscally sound government that they can afford. Our children and grandchildren deserve to enjoy the same economic opportunities and quality of life that we have experienced."

The Paul E. Tsongas Economic Patriot Award honors those who have demonstrated a commitment to fiscal and generational responsibility. The Economic Patriot Award was created in the spirit of nonpartisanship and integrity, which has animated The Concord Coalition from its inception. Throughout the years, the award has been given to individuals from the world of business, government and politics who have made lasting contributions to America's economic health.

After the award presentation, Senator Gregg will join Concord Coalition President Peter G. Peterson, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Paul Volcker and former U.S. Comptroller General David Walker to discuss "The U.S. Economic Outlook."

The program portion of the evening will begin at approximately 7:00 P.M., in the Cotillion Ballroom of The Pierre. Members of the media who would like to attend should contact Jeff Thiebert at (936) 676-1899 or jthiebert@concordcoalition.org.
