Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Domain Provider Makes Its Move Into Social Media
Internetters has opened up its first blog, increased the focus on its Twitter conversations and included bookmarking facilities

The Social Media Guide on Ulitzer

Internetters has announced its step into the social arena with the introduction of a new blog to run alongside it's recently opened Twitter account.

Having recently introduced a new design to its main site, followed by a high profile partnership announcement to allow it to sell high specification Virtual Servers, Internetters has this week launched its very own blog, along with a series of bookmark tools to help improve its social profile.

Internetters, an established UK based hosting provider, specialises in the provision of domain names, shared hosting and email to businesses and consumers throughout the UK and beyond. Until now it has relied largely on press, email marketing and healthy customer communications to sustain and grow its business. However, the Social Media channel, and the baby steps taken into it by Internetters, has shown significant potential for greater communications with existing and potential new customers.

With that in mind, the brand has opened up its first blog, increased the focus on its Twitter conversations and included a bookmarking facility on site to allow visitors to post to their favourite bookmarking tools including Delicious, Digg, Reddit and more.

"Social Media is absolutely a growing marketing channel for many businesses around the world just now, but it's not as successful for some as it is for others. We've already launched into Social Media with some sister brands, but wanted to test the waters with Internetters before allocating additional resource to it." Comments Errol Vanderhorst, Managing Director at Internetters.

"However, initial steps have proven to offer good opportunity in various areas, so we've stepped up our Social efforts with the introduction of a new blog, RSS feed, higher profile Twitter account and a series of social bookmarking options across the site. It's another indication of the improvement we're focused on, following on from a recent reduction in price of domain names, the launch of a new website and introduction of a couple of partners to allow higher specification server products."

Internetters provides a variety of domain extensions from generic top level domain names such as .com, .net and .org through to country specific extensions such as .co.uk, .us, .uk.com and more. It also provides a range of web hosting solutions and email services for customers looking for more than a domain.
