Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Rackspace Offers Its First-Ever Showcase for Retailers
The Rackspace Holiday Shopping Mall, a promotional area hosted on NoMoreServers.com will offer discounts and coupons

Hosting Pavillion at Cloud Expo

Rackspace Hosting announced a new service to assist its e-commerce customers this holiday season.

The Rackspace Holiday Shopping Mall, a promotional area hosted on NoMoreServers.com will offer discounts and coupons to encourage holiday shopping and highlight the benefits of using e-commerce.

Rackspace counts more than 2,000 e-commerce stores among its customers. The Rackspace Holiday Shopping Mall is the first of its kind for Rackspace Hosting.

The website will feature offers from retailers who are also Rackspace customers, like Coca-Cola, Levi Strauss, and ULTA as well as firms like Bonobos, TeeFury, and ChristmasLightsEtc. A complete list of offers is available at http://nomoreservers.com/mall.

Rackspace Hosting booth at the Cloud Expo Santa Clara attracted more than 2,000 delegates during the 4th International Cloud Conference & Expo.

“As our nation turns its attention to the holiday shopping season, we wanted to provide a special place where we could highlight discounts for holiday gift purchases, gift shipping and other offers that are available from our customers,” said Andy Schroepfer, vice president of strategy, Rackspace and principal author of NoMoreServers.com. “Our e-commerce customers depend on the holiday season for financial success. In some small way, this site will help spread the word about the importance of e-commerce to future business success.”

Throughout the holiday shopping season, Rackspace expects to continue to add discounts and offers to the NoMoreServers site. In addition, e-commerce retailers can add their offers to the database by visiting NoMoreServers.com.

No More Servers is a Rackspace initiative built around a shift in the world of computing. For nearly 60 years, companies that needed computing resources had to build data centers, buy servers, hire technical talent to manage all of it, and then continually reinvest to keep up with technology. Further, many businesses were often forced to deploy, scale, patch, maintain, backup and then monitor the hardware themselves 24x7x365.
