Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

New SOA Modeling Book
"SOA Modeling Patterns" book targets software developers, business and technical analysts, business and technical architects

SOA in the Cloud Expo

Michael Bell, founder of Methodologies Corporation, announced the completion of a new modeling book titled "SOA Modeling Patterns for Service-Oriented Discovery and Analysis". The book will be available for orders in book stores and on Internet book sellers' Web sites on January 7, 2010.

Michael Bell is an industry recognized expert on advanced and innovative software modeling implementation, methodologies, and strategies. This book is Mr. Bell's third book on service-oriented architecture modeling, which is devised to guide business and IT practitioners to foster business agility and promote software elasticity.

"My goal was to devise and introduce a simple software modeling language that business and IT professionals can use to depict concepts, design, and architecture requirements for a project or a larger organizational initiative," stated Michael Bell. This book offers repeatable patterns, templates for discovering and analyzing services for service-oriented development endeavors. It also covers a modeling notation that can be used to describe a virtual environment and cloud computing landscapes.

The "SOA Modeling Patterns" book targets software developers, business and technical analysts, business and technical architects, software modelers and designers, team leaders, and managers that are seeking guidance in the field of service discovery and analysis. This is an essential software life cycle discipline that is vital to any software development venture in the enterprise. The introduced topics address five chief service modeling and analysis patterns:

  • Service discovery and analysis road map patterns
  • Service identification patterns
  • Service categorization patterns
  • Service contextual analysis and modeling patterns
  • Service structural analysis and modeling patterns
