Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. Open Source Journalist Dave Rosenberg Named Principal Analyst By OSDL
Rosenberg Joins Leading Linux Advocacy Group, "Home to Linus Torvalds"

"In addition to hands-on technology and product marketing expertise, Dave brings important relationships across the technology industry," said Stuart Cohen (pictured), CEO of OSDL, as OSDL today announced the appointment of Dave Rosenberg to a newly-created position as Principal Analyst. In this role, Rosenberg will publish analyses of market trends, manage marketing communication programs and evangelize OSDL's mission to increase adoption of Linux and open source technologies.

"With his knowledge of the Linux and open source marketplace, Dave can help OSDL deliver on its mission of bringing together industry, developers and customers to advance Linux," Cohen continued.

"Linux and open source are changing business models around the world and OSDL plays a key role in accelerating the adoption of this innovative computing platform," said Rosenberg. "The technological, economic, and societal importance of the shift to open source technologies cannot be underestimated. I'm pleased at the opportunity to work with OSDL on these issues."

Rosenberg brings more than 12 years of journalism, product marketing, conference and technology experience to his role as Principal Analyst at OSDL. Rosenberg runs the content programs for LinuxWorld Expo and contributes to leading industry and business publications. Previously he was executive programs director at MediaLive International where he was in charge of all content for COMDEX.

Prior to MediaLive, Rosenberg held management roles in technology and product marketing at Sprint and OmniSky, a wireless service provider, where his work on wireless service provisioning was awarded US patent 6,628,934. Earlier he worked at NorthPoint Communications and Lucent Technologies, where he started with Bell Labs' Inferno Group. He holds a BA in English from Rutgers University and an MBA from Pepperdine University.
