Interop Technologies and Red Bend® Software Enable Operators to Reduce Cost and Complexity of Managing Mobile Devices

Interop Technologies, a provider of core solutions for messaging, device management, and connectivity gateways, today announced that it has achieved interoperability with Red Bend® Software’s market-leading Mobile Software Management (MSM) solutions for firmware over-the-air (FOTA) updating and standards-based mobile device management (MDM). As a result, wireless network operators benefit from lower customer care costs and simplified remote management of mobile phones and connected wireless devices.

Following the Open Mobile Alliance Device Management (OMA-DM) standards, the two companies have ensured interoperability between the Interop Technologies SCOPE™ (Subscriber Capability Originated Provisioning Environment) Device Management solution and Red Bend’s vRapid Mobile® and vDirect Mobile™ client software, deployed in 680 million mobile devices worldwide. Red Bend’s software has been adopted by eight of the top 10 mobile phone manufacturers to improve the mobile user experience of smartphones, wireless modems, machine-to-machine (M2M) modules and netbooks.

“Achieving interoperability of our SCOPE™ DM solution with Red Bend, the industry leader in mobile software management, will help Interop Technologies meet its goal to be compatible with the broadest number of mobile devices in the market,” said Steve Zitnik, executive vice president of technology and new ventures, Interop Technologies.

“As mobile consumers demand increasingly sophisticated devices like smartphones, e-readers and netbooks, operators are faced with a growing management challenge from both an operational and a customer care perspective,” said Lori Sylvia, executive vice president of marketing at Red Bend Software. “Our collaboration with Interop Technologies gives mobile operators a standards-based solution that will reduce the operational expense of managing the growing number of wirelessly connected devices.”

The Interop Technologies SCOPE™ solution is a robust OMA-DM solution that supports next-generation provisioning technologies and easily integrates with legacy SS7-based OTA solutions. To learn more, visit Interop Technologies in the Central Hall, Booth #3123 at the International CTIA Wireless 2010 trade show, March 23-25 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
