Cloud Computing and Rational SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS Management
Nimsoft's Mark Rivington Presents at Cloud Expo in New York

"Unless you have been living on Mars for the last two years, you've become familiar with the term Cloud Computing," writes Mark Rivington, VP of Technology at Nimsoft in describing his upcoming session at Cloud Expo at the Javits Center in New York.
None of the estimated 5,000+ attendees at the event, to be held April 19-21, have been to Mars, of that we can be reasonably sure, although a high percentage of them might want to visit there some day.
Back on Planet Earth, Rivington will present between 4:40pm-5:25pm in a session entitled "Making Sense of Cloud Server Management."
"As with all new technologies, adoption of the technology tends to lag behind the expectation and promise of value by quite a margin of time and usually for good reason," he writes. "In the case of Cloud Computing one of the overriding and sensible reasons for delay is the assessment and mitigation of risk in the area of service assurance. What will happen to my service if I start using public cloud offerings? How will I reassure my customers and internal users that service will not be affected?"
This session looks at the predominant cloud computing service types (IaaS, SaaS and PaaS) and characterizes the shift in management responsibility that comes with adoption of each type. It also suggests some best practices, as used by early adopters, in how to monitor services delivered through cloud computing deployments.
Rivington has deep knowledge of the systems and network management vendor space having served in numerous technical and marketing roles at key software organizations over the last twenty years. At Candle, Boole & Babbage, BMC and RiverSoft, he gathered significant understanding of how management software can be developed and deployed to maximize customer returns in terms of business benefit. In his current role this understanding helps drive the direction of the Nimsoft technology towards maximum customer benefit.
