Eclipse News Desk Arthur Ryman's Eclipse Blog: Pro JST Hits the Bookstores
Pro JST Hits the Bookstores
Nov. 17, 2005 10:45 AM
I've always gotten a minor thrill when I wandered into a bookstore and saw something I wrote on the shelves. Well, I got an even better feeling this weekend when I saw Pro JST sitting there. Seeing your own writing published is nice, but it's nicer still when other people write about projects you work on. JST is the J2EE Standard Tools subproject of the Eclipse Web Tools Platform (WTP) project. Pro JST is the first book published about WTP and it focuses on developing J2EE applications.
The book was written by Chris Judd and Hakeem Shittu. Chris is certainly a WTP expert. He gave a virtuoso performance on all aspects of WTP at the recent EclipseWorld conference in New York. Chris has also become a WTP contributor and is working on our online Help. In fact, I'll make a standing offer to anyone who contributes to WTP - I'll plug your books! I haven't had a chance to read the book yet, so this isn't really a book review. However, I did flip through it and was very impressed by the breadth and depth of the coverage. One minor quibble I had was on Chris' version of the history of WTP (yes, I did read that part). Not exactly as I recall it. However, I'll have my chance to set the record straight if and when my trusty co-authors, Naci Dai and Lawrence Mandel, and I ever manage to finishing writing our book on WTP. If all goes well it should be on sale at EclipseCon 2006. Reader Feedback: Page 1 of 1
