SAN JOSE, Calif., July 29 /PRNewswire/ --
51 San Jose Firefighters must report to the San Jose
WHAT: Fire Training Center to turn in their
uniforms, badges and safety gear after working their
last shift protecting San Jose residents
and businesses.
Randy Sekany, President, San Jose Firefighters, Local
WHO: 230
Firefighters being let go by City of San Jose
WHEN: July 30, 2010
8:30 AM
WHERE: San Jose Fire Department Training Center
255 South Montgomery Street
San Jose, CA 95110
San Jose Firefighters, Local 230 offered the City a proposal that includes pay cuts, higher health care premiums, higher co-pays and other concessions that will save the City of San Jose millions of dollars and keep these firefighters protecting San Jose residents and businesses. The concessions made by the San Jose firefighters were rejected by the City. The firefighter concessions were the same as what the San Jose Police Officers Association made, which were accepted by City Administration. The loss of these firefighters and closure of 4 fire engines and one fire truck will increase emergency response times and put lives and property at greater risk. It is a sad day for these fine young men and women and a sadder day for the City of San Jose. SOURCE San Jose Firefighters, Local 230 Latest Cloud Developer Stories
