C I Host, a provider of Web hosting and Internet solutions, has upgraded its email servers to enable its clients to have 1 GB of storage for each email account.
"Clients now can store all types of files as attachments to their email and use our web-based email program, W:Mail, to retrieve them," said Christopher Faulkner, CEO of C I Host. "This is a great boon to people who have to have access to large files wherever they are."
Clients can also store a copy of their email on a C I Host server as a backup to their home or office computer. The 1000 MB storage is significantly larger than the 10 or 25 MB most providers allow.
"This is another step towards making email an efficient, safe and productive business tool," Faulkner said. "It is a great complement to our recent tools to keep email free of spam, scams and viruses.”
C I Host uses sophisticated filters that screen out 99.9 percent of unwelcome and fraudulent email. In addition, C I Host checks email for phishing scams - schemes to entice computer users to false websites to steal their confidential information by pretending to be banks, ISP providers or credit card companies.
"We run more than 600 different tests on every piece of email that comes through our network, all to protect our customers," Faulkner said. "These tests use 'smart filters,' that continue to learn what is junk and what is legitimate."`
C I Host estimates that its filters stop 10,000 phishing emails a day, thus saving customers the hardship and heartache of identity theft.
