iPhone News Desk Objective-C Object Wrapper Creation
Sybase Unwired Platform Article Series #5

We are in the 5th article in my series of 8, covering the creation of an Enterprise iOS application using the Sybase Unwired Platform, with the ability to synchronize data. By now you should know that for the Sybase Unwired Platform, Mobile Business Objects (MBOs) are the encapsulation of the business process logic and data into a reusable unit that can be accessed from a variety of clients. Developers can bundle MBOs and generate the device application code required for an advanced developer to develop device applications for mobile devices in the Native SDK required and that for this example is Objective-C.
The process to create the Object-API is to use the Code Generation Wizard, within the Unwired Tooling, to package the MBOs that you want to access, and generate metadata and other artifacts required for a Objective-C, Java or C# developer to create device applications using the development environment most familiar to them. In the case of iSurvey the environment being Apple's Xcode The wizard is easily initiated by taking the Generate Code option.
Both the generated header files & implementation code in Objective-C is created and then able to be copied over, with some other necessary files to the Mac environment. More on that next time.
