From the Blogosphere Elections Canada - To the Cloud!
How Canada can move their elections onto the Cloud

A short while back I wrote a blog describing "Microsoft Open Government - To the Cloud!" In a nutshell this says that i) 'Open Government' is the key organizational model driver, where business benefits can be clearly identified, that will drive demand and adoption for ii) G-Cloud: Government Cloud Computing. The idea behind OpenRFP.net is to help fuel, and finalize, a view of this trend through focusing on specific examples. In this case the RFP for Elections Canada provides the perfect scenario. With Canada currently in the elections cycle it's a very timely review. Although it won't be a new system in time for this election, it is fun and exciting to imagine what might be different in this campaign once they have made the migration to Cloud systems. Entirely new models for elections might be possible. Anyhoo, here's a Cloud Best Practices white paper that sets the scene. The main dynamic for our OpenRFP solutions process is that we link the review of Government RFPs to a central best practices update, so that we're defining standardized, repeatable solutions in response to each RFP review.
