Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

"Real-World AJAX" One-Day Seminar: Christophe Coenraets To Speak in New York City on Monday March 13
The title of his session: "Extending AJAX with Adobe Flex"

In the session he is giving on Monday, March 13, at SYS-CON Events' "Real-World AJAX" One-Day Seminar, attendees will learn from a number of demos shown by Adobe's Christophe Coenraets (pictured), who has been a regular speaker at conferences worldwide for the last 10 years and will be bulding applications live in the seminar room - so that attendees can see first-hand how you can extend AJAX with Adobe Flex.

Those attending the sold-out seminar - the first in a series which will be alternative all year between the east and west coast, in March, April, June and October - will also experience the Eclipse-based IDE for Flex known as Flex Builder - and see how Flex Enterprise Services enables advanced data uses for messaging, publish/subscribe, and synchronization.

Coenraets is a Senior Technical Evangelist at Adobe, having been an evangelist at Macromedia before the acquisition. Prior to Macromedia, he was the head of Java and J2EE Technical Evangelism at Sybase, where he started working on Java Enterprise projects in 1996.

Before joining Sybase in the US, Christophe held different positions at Powersoft in Belgium, including Principal Consultant for PowerBuilder, and Manager of the Professional Services organization.

Did anyone read this story about Flex and AJAX and how they jive together? It's here: http://ajax.sys-con.com/read/192086.htm.

The reason that it's interesting is that Ely Greenfield isn't just a long-time developer at Macromedia/now Adobe, he's actually one of the small group of very smart engineers that designed and developed the Flex SDK.

So he reckons it's a both/and world: *both* Flex AND Ajax, not *either* Flex OR Ajax.
