David Chappell is VP and Chief Technology Evangelist, Sonic Software. He has over 20 years of experience in the software industry covering a broad range of roles including R&D, code-slinger, sales, support and marketing, and led the development effort for SonicMQ, widely recognized as the industry's most scalable message server. A long-serving editorial board member of SOA Web Services Journal, he also has extensive experience in distributed computing, including enterprise service buses (ESBs), Message-Oriented Middleware, CORBA, COM, and Web application server infrastructure. A faculty member of Web Services EDGE East, February 2005, he is author Enterprise Service Bus, 2004, and Professional ebXML Foundation; and coauthor of Java Web Services, 2002 (with Tyler Jewell), and The Java Message Service, 2000 (with Richard Monson-Hafael).

Chappell's Session Description
As SOA becomes the prevailing model for enterprise infrastructures, unique architectural challenges need to be mastered in order to fully enjoy the capabilities SOA provides.

SOA infrastructure must support operational flexibility, a heterogeneous application environment, global deployment and the ability to be managed and monitored from a central point. The enterprise service bus (ESB) provides a common platform to address these requirements and enables organizational best practices to be developed through the use of a common toolset.

Chappell will provide an insight on building and managing SOAs with an ESB. Attendees can learn how to identify the critical requirements for SOAs and reduce SOA project risk.
