Rubicon's Data Center Design/Build Business Expands Nationwide
Company Sees Strong 2012 Demand for Specialized Data Center Construction

HERNDON, VA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/30/12 -- Rubicon Professional Services, a leading national provider of full-service construction and energy management, consulting, engineering and data center design for mission-critical facilities, today announced that its 2011 client base, and nationwide presence grew for the fifth consecutive year. The company's continued growth underscores the market's inexhaustible need to properly store and retrieve data vis-à-vis the construction of new, secure, energy-efficient data centers.

According to a recent study completed by a real estate trust specializing in the development of data centers, the forecast for the U.S. data center market calls for significant growth in 2011 and 2012. The study found that 2/3 of the 300 corporate leaders surveyed had added data center capacity in the last 12 to 24 months and 85 percent reported that they will definitely/probably expand their data center capacity in 2011. Jim Embley, CEO, Rubicon Professional Services, explains the importance of thoughtful preparation to manage the data growth.

"Government regulations, cloud computing services and mobile media consumption are just a few examples of how more and more bits of data need to be stored and quickly accessed. However, companies need to carefully plan the construction of new facilities to contain and serve all this data or suffer unnecessary energy consumption and security issues. Rubicon's growth is directly attributed to the company's unique balance between technical expertise, truly understanding a customer's business model and experienced leadership in constructing efficient and secure data centers. We see the new data center design trend continuing its strong momentum throughout 2012," Embley said.

Additional highlights from Rubicon's successful year include:

  • Completed new data center construction for Adhost Internet, Internap, Telx, and Power Loft.
  • Expanded client base with the addition of several major financial services providers
  • Industry accolades:
    • Inc. 500|5000 ranking of #668, an exclusive ranking of the nation's fastest-growing private companies.
    • 2012 Washington SmartCEO Magazine's Future 50 Award
  • The launch of its Technical Services Group -- better enabling Rubicon to offer an integrated approach to planning and designing data centers, while ensuring construction projects are built right -- the first time -- while adhering to budget.
  • Achieved full OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) certification for all company employees. Rubicon developed the industry's first job hazard analysis program to ensure sub-contractors adhere to core safety standards prior to the start of all construction projects.
  • Significantly bolstering its broad-based portfolio of construction, consulting, engineering, and energy management services with additional staff.
  • Expanded operations in the Western U.S., with projects in Los Angeles and San Francisco, CA and Phoenix, AZ.
