The concept of cloud computing is about the ability for organizations to stop solving all IT problems by themselves. It's certainly about sharing resources, such as storage and compute services, but it really should be more about sharing solutions and pushing risk out of the business. The focus now is on the former. Hopefully, in a few years, it will be more about the impact to a business rather than how the technology is defined.
In his session at the 10th International Cloud Expo, David Linthicum, Founder and CTO of Blue Mountain Labs, will look at what cloud computing is, and what it should be. The way it's defined today and how should be defined tomorrow. He'll focus on the emerging patterns of cloud computing, including changing business value and new patterns of cloud computing technology that are emerging. If you're attempting to figure out the rule of cloud computing for your enterprise or agency, this session is not to be missed.
In his career, Linthicum has formed or enhanced many of the ideas behind modern distributed computing, including Enterprise Application Integration, B2B Application Integration, and SOA, approaches and technologies in wide use today. For the last 10 years, he has focused on the technology and strategies around cloud computing and how to make cloud computing work for the modern enterprise. This includes work with several cloud computing startups. His industry experience includes tenures as CTO and CEO of several successful software companies, and upper-level management positions in Fortune 100 companies. In addition, he was an associate professor of computer science for eight years and continues to lecture at major technical colleges and universities, including the University of Virginia, Arizona State University, and the University of Wisconsin.
