Industry News Desk appzero announces availability of zapp cloud migrator
New technology automates the extraction and packaging of Windows production applications for movement to any cloud

The fastest and most flexible way to move server applications to any cloud, appzero took a market-setting step forward today with the release of zapp cloud migration. This technology extracts Windows server applications from production environments and packages them for movement to any cloud, without re-engineering, change, or lock-in. Applications packaged by zapp can be copied and run on any cloud or data center server with the ease of an enterprise app store. This capability is well suited to hybrid/federated cloud scenarios in which enterprise workloads are moved on premise or to clouds in response to business requirements. For use cases that call for ease of application on-boarding with no further planned movement, appzero also offers a dissolve function. Upon deployment, dissolve removes the appzero packaging, installing the application to the OS.
Requiring no appzero software on the source machine, zapp migrator software resides on the target server, which can be located anywhere - including on the cloud to which an application is being migrated. Zapp automation slashes the bulk of manual labor, time, costs, and error typically involved in on-boarding complex enterprise applications. Lauren C. States, vice president, chief technology officer of Cloud Computing and Growth Initiatives, IBM Corporate Strategy said, "appzero's rapid application migration services increase agility while decreasing cost and time to value - a powerful value proposition for both enterprise customers wanting to cloud enable their enterprise applications as well as for SaaS ISVs who want their cloud centric applications to be able to switch between clouds." Commenting on this innovation, appzero CEO Greg O'Connor said, "On-boarding customer applications has been a labor-intensive, low margin activity that cloud providers do in order to populate their cloud. appzero's zapp migration lets them concentrate on managing their services rather than on getting the applications on board." Aberdeen Group Senior Research Analyst Dick Csaplar adds, "Cloud economics have run into the hard wall of moving production applications. Until now, the costs and level of effort required to suit those applications for the cloud have off-set projected savings. Automating that effort alters the equation of using the public Cloud as an extension of the data center." Appzero will be demonstrating zapp migration in IBM's Cloud Zone Partner Pavilion at IBM Impact 2012, April 29 - May 4, Las Vegas, NV. About appzero
