Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

GroupLogic’s mobilEcho Empowers Regional Swiss Government with Advanced File Management Capabilities, Increasing Employee Productivity

GroupLogic®, the industry’s leading provider of software products that unlock the power of new enterprise platforms, announced today that the Regional Government of Basel-Stadt (GBS), Switzerland, successfully deployed its Mobile File Management (MFM) software mobilEcho in order to provide secure mobile file access for its 5,000 employees.

Basel-Stadt’s Central IT Services (CIS) is an office in the government’s finance department that oversees IT management and procurement. The office was in need of a solution that would not only enable secure file access on mobile devices such as iPad and iPhone, but also would provide:

  • Easy management of files;
  • Ability to control what data employees download from multiple servers; and,
  • Support for version control.

Now, with mobilEcho, edits can be made and documents uploaded in real-time, streamlining the work process and ensuring everyone is always on the same page with the most up-to-date information.

“We didn’t want our documents to be outside our own environment,” said Sebastian Heller, Team Leader for Desktop and Mobile at CIS. “We needed to manage the data, and at the same time know who was downloading it. With mobilEcho, our IT staff no longer worries that documents may be vulnerable to security risks. We feel confident in letting our users access documents whenever, wherever, so problems arising from multiple versions have been virtually eliminated.”

“As a government entity managing thousands of users, we appreciate how important it was for the Regional Government of Basel-Stadt to get better control over employee file access,” said Anders Lofgren, Vice President of Product Management and Marketing at GroupLogic. “We created mobilEcho for exactly this reason – to give IT the peace of mind it needs, while enabling enterprise employees to use their device of choice safely and securely to get their work done.”
