I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

Cbeyond Announces Partnership with Zayo to Expand Fiber Reach

Cbeyond, Inc. (NASDAQ: CBEY), a leading provider of network and cloud services to over 62,000 small and medium sized businesses, today announced a formal agreement with Zayo, a national provider of fiber-based bandwidth infrastructure and network-neutral colocation. This partnership will enable Cbeyond to leverage Zayo’s infrastructure to bring high-speed bandwidth connectivity to small and medium sized businesses via dark fiber.

“Our primary goal for 2012 is to deliver a secure cloud infrastructure, network and consultative sales approach to bring the real benefits of secure cloud computing to the most technically demanding small and medium sized businesses nationwide,” said Brent Cobb, chief customer officer for Cbeyond. “This partnership with Zayo will allow us to fully control and scale the bandwidth our customers receive to exceed our technology-dependent customers’ needs - our number one priority.”

To date, Cbeyond has placed orders for fiber with Zayo to reach more than 600 buildings, within the Company’s densest markets, one of the first steps in bringing Cbeyond closer to its goal of lighting fiber to 1,000 buildings and transitioning an additional 29 percent of its customers to Metro Ethernet by the end of 2013. Cbeyond currently provides 21 percent of its customers with Metro Ethernet via Ethernet-over-Copper technology.

“Our unique value - the secure intersection of network and cloud - provides our customers with a solution only available from Cbeyond. We are confident the Zayo partnership will fuel success for both organizations, and most importantly, gets innovation into the hands of small and medium sized businesses to enhance their productivity and growth plans,” added Cobb.

“We are excited to partner with Cbeyond to bring dark fiber connectively to small and medium sized businesses across the U.S.,” said Matt Erickson, president of Zayo Fiber Solutions. “We anticipate this partnership will be beneficial for both organizations as we have the joint goal of bringing fiber to buildings across the U.S.”
