Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Red Hat India appoints Ingram Micro as National Distributor
Ingram Micro to Distribute Red Hat Solutions Throughout India

Red Hat has announced that they have appointed Ingram Micro as the company's National Distributor in India. Ingram Micro, the largest global wholesale provider of technology products and supply chain management services, will now distribute Red Hat's products and solutions to channel partners throughout India.

Both companies will complement each other in the market. Red Hat delivers best-of-breed technology in the Linux space, while Ingram provides the required reach through its robust reseller network to meet the demand for Linux across the enterprise.

Javed Tapia, President, Red Hat Indian Subcontinent, said, "Linux and open source software have firmly established themselves in the enterprise segment. Our customers are spread across the length and breadth of the country and are in need of being serviced locally. Our partnership with Ingram will allow us to leverage their network and fulfill the growing demand for Red Hat's solutions in India. Ingram Micro has expertise in providing a comprehensive product line to a widespread market. We are excited to have them as our National Distributor. "

Krishnan Jaishankar, Managing Director, Ingram Micro said, "The Linux user-base is growing exponentially across segments and, increasingly, hardware vendors are supporting it as a platform of choice. Undoubtedly, this is the best time for Ingram to foray into the burgeoning Linux market and accelerate organic growth. Red Hat is a leader in the open source market and we are very excited to work with them as this partnership marks Ingram's maiden entry into the Linux market."

Tirthankar Mitra, Head of Channels & SIs, Red Hat India adds, ""Red Hat is committed to developing and maintaining its partner relationships across all levels. The Ingram and Red Hat partnership is very important and key to us. We will ensure the partners are trained and enabled to provide Red Hat based solutions across the country."
