A Look at the Big IFA Releases and More
Samsung is unveiling a bevy of electronics

  • Samsung is unveiling a bevy of electronics, including, the Note 2, a Windows Phone 8 (Ativ S), a touchscreen Windows 8 laptop, and more – the Galaxy Note 2 looks pretty amazing, but while I like the device and size as a secondary device, I could never use it to make phone calls. With the Ativ line, Samsung is replicating their Galaxy SX success from Android, creating a strong line of WP8 devices that offer value to any user. Samsung has one version that includes a keyboard dock, touchscreen tablet and Note style stylus. Samsung is also releasing a Galaxy S camera, a 16MP point and shoot with a 4.8″ touchscreen and Android.
  • The Internationale Funkausstellung is the hottest place to be right now for consumer electronics

  • Archos is releasing a gaming oriented tablet (which looks amazing). Archos Gamepad looks to be a killer device, with a dual-core processor and analog sticks. I’ve written previously how the Nexus 7 is the best in mobile gaming right now, but this could easily de-throne it. Via Gizmodo.
  • Logitech drops a number of portable wireless audio options - Logitech, best known for their peripherals, providing quality wireless audio solutions on the go. They are unveiling the Boombox, the Mobile Boombox and the Smart Radio. Via Engadget, more here.
  • Toshiba is releasing a 12.5″ Windows 8 “convertible” that slides the screen up and down the keyboard half - while not as engaging as the Samsung Windows 8 tablet with detachable keyboard and stylus, this might be better suited to actually getting work done. Via MobileGeeks, more here.
  • Sony unveiled their 84″ 4K monster TV - while this beauty does not have full pricing yet, the 3,840×2160 monitor has 10 speakers, providing 5.1 surround. It looks gorgeous, and if I were not positive that it will be completely out of my price range, I would be counting pennies now. Via Sony, more here.
  • Microsoft has unveiled the Windows Azure Mobile Services - to further their quest to push Azure as a development platform. There is a free “public preview” in which your first 10 applications are free. Sign up now! Via Betanews, more here.
  • Google is offering Google+ for businesses free until the end of 2013 – one of the great things about Google is so many things are free (you know, at the cost of your information or their ads). If you do not have an internal social media solution for your business, check it out. Via Engadget, more here.
