Open Data Centers Maintains Normal Operations at Piscataway Data Center During Hurricane Sandy

Open Data Centers announced today that its data center facility in Piscataway, New Jersey maintained normal operations as Hurricane Sandy left millions of homes and businesses without power in New York and New Jersey. Located 16 miles south of New York City, Open Data Centers’ Piscataway facility ran on generator power throughout the event and suffered no interruptions in services as regular deliveries of fuel were provided. Power was restored quickly to the facility and no customers experienced outages for the duration of the event. The robust power systems include redundant generators, internally redundant battery backup systems, as well as redundant cooling systems. Open Data Centers took on additional enterprise and carrier customers who were affected by outages in the greater New York City area.

“We have been receiving compliments from many customers on our handling of the situation,” states Erik Levitt, CEO of Open Data Centers. “All aspects of the systems performed as they should and we are extremely pleased with how our facilities and staff performed during this event. The nature and breadth of the area affected is unprecedented. We continue to provide services on an emergency basis to customers still affected by the storm.”

Open Data Centers will be exhibiting at the upcoming Light Reading Ethernet Expo Americas 2012 at The Hilton New York on November 6th and 7th.
