Cvent, the world’s largest cloud-based provider of event management, meeting site selection and web surveys, today announced the appointment of Pete Childs as Chief Financial Officer. Pete has twenty five years of experience, eighteen of which were in senior financial roles, supporting growing companies through daily operations and significant milestones including acquisitions and the initial public offering process.

Pete joins Cvent from Towers Watson, an international human capital and financial management consulting firm, where he was most recently Chief Accounting Officer and held the number two financial role in the company. In this role he helped grow the company from $500 million and 4,000 employees to its current size of $3.4 billion and 14,000 employees. During his thirteen years at Towers Watson, Pete oversaw a team of 350 people who were responsible for financial reporting, SEC compliance and controls and audit. He also participated in twenty-five acquisitions ranging in size from $1 million to $1.5 billion and was heavily involved in pre- and post-acquisition integration into the larger public company. Pete was instrumental in taking Towers Watson public in 2000, and has gained a tremendous amount of international experience by helping the company create three shared services centers internationally which support their offices in 113 cities and 37 countries.

Prior to his career at Towers Watson, Pete served as Vice President of Finance and Treasurer at HCR Manor Care, which at the time was a $2.2 billion growth-oriented S&P 500 company in the healthcare industry. During his time at the company he was responsible for the Corporate Finance, Treasury, Tax, and Travel departments and managed the spinoff of the Choice Hotels division into a separate public company. Before HCR Manor Care, he served as Manager of Treasury Operations for Primark Corporation, which is also a publicly-traded company. Pete launched his career as an auditor with KPMG, one of the four largest accounting firms in the country.

Pete earned a MBA from George Washington University and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Brigham Young University. He is also a certified public accountant (CPA).
