Me having experience dealing with cloud based tech and consulting and integration services, I realize the need for a secure and consistant cloud service. Many people are concerned with the privacy, or lack thereof, that could occur with storing personal documents into a non-physical storage unit. I can see, though with companies such as ours and Metacloud, we are working toward a more secure and easy to use cloud system for both personal and professional use. Spursh Parikh www.sererra.com

Solera Networks Names Brian Contos Worldwide Vice President of Sales Engineering and Professional Services

Solera Networks, the industry’s leading Big Data Security Intelligence and Analytics provider, announced today that it has appointed certified information systems security professional (CISSP) and industry veteran Brian Contos as Worldwide Vice President of Sales Engineering and Professional Services. In his new role, Contos will be responsible for overseeing Solera Networks’ international technical sales engineering force to expand the company’s customer base, maintain and cultivate existing accounts and ensure the satisfaction of both current and prospective clients. Contos will also lead the expansion of Solera’s Professional Services offering.

“We are excited to have Brian lead our global sales engineering team,” said Steve Shillingford, president and CEO of Solera Networks. “Brian’s proven security engineering and management experience, combined with a track record for building client-facing technology organizations, will be an immediate asset to Solera. I am confident that Brian will play a key role in helping us meet the rapidly expanding global demand for our comprehensive, real-time big data security intelligence and advanced threat protection solutions.”

Contos has nearly two decades of experience in the IT and network security industry, working with governmental organizations and Forbes Global 2000 companies in more than 40 countries throughout North, Central and South America, the Caribbean, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Prior to joining Solera, Contos served as senior director for vertical and emerging markets at McAfee, where he worked with distributors, partners, sales, business development and marketing to expand business in regions across the globe. Preceding his time at McAfee, Contos formerly held several leading roles in the security space, including Chief Security Strategist at Imperva, Chief Security Officer at ArcSight, and Director of Professional Services and Sales Engineering at Riptech. Additionally, he has held security positions at Bell Laboratories, Tandem Computers and the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA).

Contos is also the author of several books, including Enemy at the Water Cooler—Real-Life Stories of Insider Threats and Physical and Logical Security Convergence—co-authored with former NSA Deputy Director William Crowell.

“Solera Networks has stepped up to the difficult challenge of providing innovative, reliable and highly sought-after solutions for complete visibility and situational awareness into the advanced malware and targeted attacks that fly under the radar of today’s traditional security tools,” said Contos. “I look forward to overseeing helping Solera meet the strong international demand for its Big Data Security Intelligence and Analytics products and services, and helping businesses worldwide to respond swiftly to even the most difficult-to-detect cyber threats and zero-day attacks.”
