I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

MyItemWriter(TM) Test Development App Now Available for Download on Prometric.com

BALTIMORE, MD -- (Marketwire) -- 11/06/12 -- Prometric, the trusted provider of market-leading test development and delivery solutions, unveiled in the U.S. today its new app, MyItemWriter™. The PC/laptop version of the app is available at https://www.prometric.com/MyItemWriter. There is no charge for MyItemWriter.

"MyItemWriter makes the test development process more inclusive of the world's best minds," said Michael Brannick, President and CEO of Prometric. "By utilizing MyItemWriter, organizations can invite any subject matter expert with an Internet connection to contribute to their exams."

Download of the app is easy and secure. Once a user has the app installed, no connection to the Web is needed until a subject matter expert chooses to share new test content. At that point, the data is encrypted and sent to the user's designated item bank for review.

"Very smart and capable people develop the exams we have today, but how many are left out of the conversation? How can their contributions make exams better?" said Brannick. "We want to find out, and we're inviting everyone."

Items are the questions, answers and psychometric nuts and bolts of certification, licensure and accreditation exams. The cost of a single item can range from $250 to $1,000, or more, with most tests having hundreds of items.

MyItemWriter utilizes cloud computing technology, enabling any community of content experts to write, review and approve items using an intuitive mobile interface. Users do not need to be connected to the Internet to use the app. Only when ready to share items do users need to connect, and upload is easy. The files are encrypted and sent securely over the Web to Prometric's highly regarded Intelitest® item banking platform (or other designated item banks) for streamlined review and approval.
