CDW Recognized as Leading Military Friendly Employer

CDW, a leading provider of technology solutions for business, government, education and healthcare, today announced it has been named one of the 2013 Top 100 Military Friendly Employers® by G.I. Jobs. This marks the fourth consecutive year CDW has been honored by G.I. Jobs for its efforts to hire and support veterans.

“Veteran hiring is a priority for CDW. Our veteran coworkers bring skills and experiences that are critical to our success, including an unwavering commitment, drive for results and a team spirit,” said Thomas E. Richards, chief executive officer, CDW. “We are proud to support veterans through our ongoing hiring initiatives.”

CDW continues to expand its outreach programs and industry partnerships to attract, engage and hire veterans and help them transition from military service. As a result, the company continues to demonstrate year-over-year increases in its veteran hiring. CDW is also a partner in the U.S. Army’s Partnership for Youth Success (PaYS) Program, which guarantees job interviews to qualified soldiers upon completion of their military service.

In addition to a company-wide focus on veteran hiring, CDW supports military service coworkers by providing internal resources designed to help them successfully transition back into the civilian workplace. Last year, CDW established its Military & Allies Resource Council (MARC). This internal affinity group is dedicated to the recruitment, development and support of coworkers who have served in the military, as well as to strengthening connections and partnerships with the military community.

The company’s “Achieve It! A Better You” coworker wellness program allows veterans to take advantage of programs specifically tailored to their needs, from support for post-traumatic stress disorder to help and guidance in achieving and maintaining financial success. Also, for those deployed while employed at CDW, the company offers internal engagement and support that includes a supplemental pay program for a period of up to two years.

CDW’s company profile and open employment opportunities fit for military personnel are listed on MilitaryFriendly.com. The new website allows job seekers to view open positions at CDW and other military friendly employers. Users will also be able to create and share lists of military friendly jobs and employers via social media.

The Top 100 Military Friendly Employers® rankings are based on a survey which assesses a company’s long-term commitment to hiring former military, recruiting and hiring efforts and results, policies for Reserve/Guard members called to active duty, and the presence of special recruitment military programs. The survey results that determined the 2013 list were independently tested by Ernst & Young LLP based upon the weightings and methodology established by G.I. Jobs. Each year companies taking the survey are held to a higher standard than the previous year via improved methodology, criteria and weightings developed with the assistance of an Advisory Board consisting of leaders in the military recruitment community. The pool of companies eligible for the list is approximately 5,000 with minimum of $500 million in annual revenues.
