Me having experience dealing with cloud based tech and consulting and integration services, I realize the need for a secure and consistant cloud service. Many people are concerned with the privacy, or lack thereof, that could occur with storing personal documents into a non-physical storage unit. I can see, though with companies such as ours and Metacloud, we are working toward a more secure and easy to use cloud system for both personal and professional use. Spursh Parikh www.sererra.com

ILS partners with Danaos to develop cloud-based ship management for the marine industry

Inventory Locator Service,® LLC (ILS) recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Danaos Management Consultants S.A. (Danaos) to collaborate on the development of a cloud-based procurement and management service for the shipping industry.

Together the companies will develop a platform called MarineHubsm, a network of companies in the marine industry that will facilitate planned maintenance and procurement of spares for ship owners, managers and suppliers worldwide using cloud technology.

George Zdravecky, ILS vice president of Supply Chain Solutions, recently spoke about the benefits of creating such a network at the International Marine Purchasing Association (IMPA) conference in London. "Creating an environment that connects the content, systems, people and processes will benefit all companies in the marine industry,” said Zdravecky. “The network we’re planning has the potential to minimize cost for spares and maintenance while increasing visibility and continuity of supply."

"Global business will be conducted via professional networks," stated Mr. Dimitris Theodossiou, managing director of Danaos. "The MarineHubsm network will fully automate the vendor-to-buyer interaction, aiming to minimize ship supplier’s cost by not only selecting the correct price but also by ordering the right quantity."

A subsidiary of Boeing, ILS operates in the marine, aviation and defense industries and has extensive experience developing cloud-based networks.

The agreement with Danaos was announced recently at the IMPA conference in London. Danaos is one of the largest maritime management software and services companies worldwide.
