A Look Inside a Free Consultation with Dr. J
Double board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Payam Jarrah-Nejad shares what one of his complimentary pre-surgical consultation generally looks like.

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Those wanting plastic surgery typically do their fair share of research. They peruse different doctors' websites, look at their photos, and then read reviews on third-party websites. The next step is meeting with the surgeon to discuss the procedure. Payam Jarrah-Nejad, MD, FICS, FACS, known for his Brazilian butt lift and rapid recovery breast augmentation in Beverly Hills, offers these one-on-one consultations free of charge.

"As a conscientious surgeon, I want my patients to make the most informed decision possible," said Dr. J, as his patients affectionately call him. "A face-to-face, complimentary consultation—even parking here is free—is a low-pressure way to educate about surgery." In the interest of transparency, Dr. J recently went through the process of one of his consultations, using a patient who wants a rapid recovery breast augmentation as an example.

After she fills out some paperwork, the two sit in an exam room. Dr. J starts, "I'll introduce myself and ask, 'What brings you here today?' She'll answer, sometimes specifically, sometimes vaguely: 'I'm here for breast implants.' 'I'm here for better breasts.' 'I'm here to look more feminine.'" Dr. J then goes through a course of educating the patient about the surgery, checking her suitability for the procedure, and making a list of the patients' wishes, desires, and goals for the procedure.

Dr. J wants his patients to be  fully aware of the procedure they want to undertake. He'll discuss the possibilities and the limits of plastic surgery, assessing both along with the woman's expectations and sticking to his motto, "Under-promise, over-deliver." Then he'll explain the surgery in detail so that the patient is completely informed about what happens before, during, and after the surgery. This includes breast augmentation cost and recovery time; Dr. J doesn't believe in surprises. He said, "The best thing they get in a consultation is information about augmentation. I want take this opportunity to transfer what I've learned through medical school, years and years of surgical training, and hundreds of rapid recovery breast augmentations to my patients who have taken the time to come to my office."

Next, her medical and surgical qualifications are discussed. The two go over medications, history of surgeries, anything relevant to the procedure to ensure she's a perfect candidate for optimal results. "Her health is our primary concern and our top priority is her safety." Finally, if the woman is a good fit, Dr. J and she will choose the best option for surgery and schedule time at a fully accredited ambulatory surgery center. The entire consultation can take as little as 15 minutes to an hour, though Dr. J doesn't believe in rushing, "The best patient is one who is educated." Then, if she'd prefer that Dr. J's office arrange a hotel stay for breast augmentation recovery, then they can organize those details as well. Many of his patients come from out of town, so this process is streamlined.

These complimentary consultations can be arranged for any type of aesthetic or reconstructive procedure that is in Dr. J's sizable surgical tool belt, including his low scar tummy tuck, Brazilian butt lift, etc. Dr. J's office can be reached by calling 310-228-3151 or by going to www.drjplasticsurgery.com.
