Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

The Manitoba Teachers’ Society selects FINEOS Claims

FINEOS Corporation, a market leading provider of claims management software, today announced that The Manitoba Teachers’ Society (MTS) has selected FINEOS to manage claims and payments arising from its Disability Benefits Plan, an insurance plan owned and operated for teachers in the province of Manitoba in Canada, since 1994. The Manitoba Teachers’ plan is designed to support members with medical and vocational rehabilitation if they become ill or injured, ensuring the earliest possible return to work and maximum quality of life.

FINEOS Claims will be used to manage all stages of the MTS claims and rehabilitation process from initial notification through vocational rehabilitation and payment for loss of earnings and medical expenses. It will automate complex payment processes, allowing MTS staff to focus on the high-value activities of managing the claimant’s recovery. The implementation of FINEOS Claims will be carried out by the MTS using the configurability capabilities within the solution. They will be supported with training and implementation support services from FINEOS.

Andy Beardsall, Information Technology Manager at MTS, welcomed the decision to select FINEOS. He said, “We looked at a number of solution options in order to deliver the best outcome for our members and in the end we felt FINEOS provided the best overall fit for us in terms of the capabilities it offered around managing disability claims and payments. Overall we see the solution adding tremendous benefit to our organization. Our team will be able to immediately retrieve information in a system that is configured to follow our claims processes. This will have a huge impact in two areas in particular - a) our people can spend more time on more value-add processes and tasks, and b) the result is that our members’ level of service and support will be improved considerably.”

Commenting on the new signing, FINEOS CEO, Michael Kelly said, "We are delighted to announce our fifth FINEOS customer within the Canadian Market. This partnership with The Manitoba Teachers’ Society is very exciting as they will be implementing many of our most recent features. In addition, they will be performing the majority of the solution implementation themselves, with training and support provided by FINEOS, which further demonstrates the ‘out of the box’ nature of our solution. This underpins why FINEOS Claims is the solution of choice for Life and Disability insurance”.
