Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

OpenText Announces InfoFusion

New Information Access Software Allows Customers to Integrate EIM Data from Multiple Systems

ENTERPRISE WORLD, ORLANDO, FL, Nov. 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ - OpenText™ (NASDAQ: OTEX, TSX: OTC) today unveiled OpenText InfoFusion™, Information Access software specifically designed for Enterprise Information Management (EIM) that offers businesses a new and dramatically improved approach to discovering, analyzing and managing unstructured information across their enterprise.

According to recent industry estimates, unstructured information accounts for more than 80 percent of an enterprise's total information and represents the largest and fastest growing source of knowledge, innovation and efficiency available to organizations. Businesses are increasingly looking at EIM to unlock the strategic value of this often siloed, largely untapped information to help them cut costs, ensure compliance, increase competitive advantage and make better decisions about their business.

OpenText InfoFusion is designed to break down corporate information silos and aggregate that information to capitalize on the benefits of EIM. InfoFusion provides powerful data integration, content migration, data archiving and legacy decommissioning tools that allow organizations to discover, analyze and act on information throughout their enterprise while also helping them identify and address critical business issues.

Karen Shegda, Gartner research vice president, recently stated, "Enterprises seek to capitalize on a growing number of information-fueled opportunities that require a combination of analytical capabilities and diverse data types. Those that blend analytics and content, supported by a well-organized information infrastructure, will reap the benefits."1

Solving today's EIM problems requires a highly scalable solution that can help organizations easily access the information they need from across their enterprise, analyze it and take action based on it. Through the use of OpenText InfoFusion's powerful search and analysis capabilities and a wide array of connectors, users can now better assess huge volumes of enterprise content, extract its full value and make important decisions that can positively impact their business.

OpenText InfoFusion uniquely enables organizations to move, copy, delete and change permissions on content to support Information Governance practices. And, since InfoFusion is connected to OpenText's industry-leading EIM applications, it can extend the reach of OpenText Enterprise Content Management and OpenText Records Management to provide a single source of policy for the organization.

"CIOs are increasingly faced with large data sets that are too disparate, too complex and too poorly organized for analysis with conventional tools. As companies adapt their businesses to the imperatives of cloud, social, mobile and ever-present compliance, new methods are needed to access and aggregate this information," said Marten den Haring, Vice President, Information Discovery and Analytics at OpenText. "OpenText InfoFusion is modular, standards-based Information Access software that integrates seamlessly with OpenText's leading EIM solutions to solve these problems, enabling better information governance and a smarter enterprise."

OpenText InfoFusion also includes Integration Center with connectors that help orchestrate data and provide authorized access to enterprise repositories, including IBM® FileNet, EMC® Documentum® and Microsoft® SharePoint®. Because many different EIM solutions share common requirements, a rich set of APIs and reusable widgets are offered, enabling customers and partners to develop applications for specific use cases and user roles.
