I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

Energy Forward 'Are You Fan Enough' Energy-Efficient Televisions Campaign Awards Ultimate Tailgate Prize to Springfield Resident
Regional campaign also awards 52" Energy Forward "Most Efficient" TV and 10 college football game tickets

PORTLAND, Ore., Nov. 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Today Energy Forward announced the Oregon winners of its "Are You Fan Enough" campaign. The regional campaign, launched October 1st in Montana and culminating in Oregon, encourages Northwest residents to look for the orange "Most Efficient" sticker when shopping for new TVs. By entering "Are You Fan Enough" on Facebook or at Northwest Best Buy and Sears retail locations, Oregon residents had the chance to win the ultimate VIP college football tailgate package, 10 tickets to a college football game or an Energy Forward 'Most Efficient' TV. The ultimate tailgate party on November 17th in Eugene will feature a wall of Energy Forward TVs and an Energy Forward RV catered with food, refreshments and Snuggies®.

Energy Forward is an initiative of the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (NEEA) in collaboration with Northwest utilities, ENERGY STAR and retail partners.

Eugene won the Oregon match-up over Corvallis, 58 to 42 percent. Individual winners drawn from the Oregon matchup were:

  • Thomas Willie from Springfield, Oregon won the grand prize VIP ultimate tailgate package, which includes 10 tickets to this weekend's Eugene game against Palo Alto. Thomas is a customer of Springfield Utility Board.
  • Rachel Herrington from Corvallis, Oregon won a 52-inch Energy Forward Television. Rachel is a customer of Consumers Power Inc.
  • Sarah Campbell from Hubbard, Oregon won 10 tickets to this weekend's Corvallis game against Berkeley. Sarah is a customer of Portland General Electric (PGE).

"We're pleased to congratulate Thomas Willie and Rachel Herrington for winning the Oregon 'Are You Fan Enough' sweepstakes," said Karen Meadows, acting vice president of energy efficiency at Bonneville Power Administration. "This contest is a great way to show choosing an energy-efficient TV doesn't mean sacrificing performance. BPA is proud to support NEEA's Energy Forward program as part of the overall regional effort to acquire energy efficiency."

TVs marked with a "Most Efficient" sticker are at least 20 to 35 percent more efficient than other energy-efficient products, and are available at Best Buy, Costco, Kmart, Sam's Club, Sears, Target, Walmart and independent electronics stores throughout the Northwest.

"Choosing a 'most efficient' television can be a game changer for our region when it comes to saving energy," said Carol Dillin, PGE vice president of customer strategies and business development.  "Thanks to our customer Sarah Campbell for participating in the sweepstakes and supporting her local college football team – all while learning more about energy-efficient TVs."

Entrants voted via Facebook or in Northwest Best Buy and Sears stores to win a tailgate party at one of two universities located within Oregon. An entrant who voted for the team that received the most votes was randomly selected to win a grand prize VIP tailgate package. The winner of the Energy Forward 52-inch TV was randomly selected from all entrants regardless of university vote.

"The 'Are You Fan Enough' campaign is a fun way to help consumers learn about TVs that are engineered to provide the best performance while also saving energy—a winning combination for any sports fan," said Ty Stober, market transformation initiative lead at the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance. The Energy Forward campaign, now wrapping up after an RV and tailgate tour of the region, successfully helped consumers from across the region learn more about energy-efficient televisions while competing to win ultimate tailgates for their favorite college football teams.

"Are You Fan Enough" grand prize games and ultimate tailgate parties:

  • Montana game was October 27, 2012
  • Idaho game was November 3, 2012
  • Washington game was November 10, 2012
  • Oregon game is November 17, 2012
