Electro Scan Inc. today announced that Ant Hire Ltd., based in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, has become an International Authorized Dealer of its proprietary line of sewer leak detection and pipeline rehabilitation certification technology. Ant Hire Ltd. will represent the Electro Scan product line on an exclusive basis throughout England, Scotland, Wales, and the Isle of Man.

Electro Scan represents the next generation in sewer leak detection. In contrast to other methods that rely on visual inspection and coding standards, Electro Scan’s patent-pending technology automatically finds leaks in sewer and stormwater pipes by measuring the variation of electricity passing through defects like cracks, broken joints, and defective service connections. Data is transmitted to smartphone and laptop computer applications and transmitted to the Company’s cloud application, Critical Sewers^TM.

In November 2012, Electro Scan performed its first UK-based demonstration in Topsham, in association with Pell Frischmann, consulting engineers. The Electro Scan technology assesses all non-conductive (i.e. non-metallic) pipes, including asbestos cement, brick, clay, concrete, mortar, plastic, reinforced concrete, and resin-based liners and identifies all cracks, fractures, defective joints, and faulty service connections to within one centimeter and calculates the estimated gallons or liters per minute of leakage.
