Me having experience dealing with cloud based tech and consulting and integration services, I realize the need for a secure and consistant cloud service. Many people are concerned with the privacy, or lack thereof, that could occur with storing personal documents into a non-physical storage unit. I can see, though with companies such as ours and Metacloud, we are working toward a more secure and easy to use cloud system for both personal and professional use. Spursh Parikh www.sererra.com

More than Half of the 2012 Digital Cities Winners Use Granicus Solutions
Awards Honor City Government Technology Leaders

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/28/12 -- Granicus, the leading provider of cloud-based solutions for government transparency, efficiency, and citizen engagement, today announced that more than half of the cities awarded in the 2012 Digital Cities competition are Granicus customers. The Digital Cities awards are an annual ranking of city government technology leaders published by Government Technology magazine and the Center for Digital Government. The winners are selected for being among the top city governments using technology to cut costs, promote operational efficiency, and engage citizens.

"We are thrilled to see that more than half of the cities awarded are Granicus customers. Our city clients are technologically progressive, visionary, and deserve this recognition for continually improving online government," said Tom Spengler, CEO & Co-Founder of Granicus. "These awards underscore a clear trend towards increased openness and citizen participation unfolding in government -- city leaders are looking for better ways to engage and involve the public in the democratic process. Granicus is proud to be helping local government achieve this mission through our community engagement, transparency, and cost-efficiency tools," added Spengler.

Granicus clients receiving awards include the cities of Louisville Metro, KY; Riverside, CA; Corpus Christi, TX; Winston-Salem, NC; Chula Vista, CA; Alexandria, VA; Ann Arbor, MI; Lynchburg, VA; and others. Earlier this year, Granicus also congratulated its customers for dominating the 2012 Best of the Web Awards, Digital County Awards, and Digital State Awards. These award competitions are also hosted by Government Technology magazine and the Center for Digital Government.

Granicus' cloud-based platform and products suites are currently being used by more than 1,000 local, state, and federal governments in the U.S. and Canada -- this includes 50 out of 100 of the largest cities in the nation. Customers are using Granicus' tools -- including live and on-demand video, crowdsourcing and discussion forums, legislative recordkeeping and research portals -- to connect and collaborate with their communities in meaningful new ways online. At the same time, they are relying on Granicus' workflow automation to run their policy-making process in a more cost-efficient and eco-friendly way.
