Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

Integration of Micrium's uC/Probe and IAR's Embedded Workbench Enhanced via New Plug-In

Micrium, the embedded community's premier supplier of RTOS components, today announced a plug-in that allows users of IAR's popular Embedded Workbench® IDE to more easily leverage the capabilities of Micrium's unique visualization tool, uC/Probe. The plug-in connects uC/Probe to Embedded Workbench's C-SPY® debugger over TCP/IP, giving the debugger exciting new Graphical Live WatchTM capabilities for practically all of the targets that it supports.

With uC/Probe, users of Embedded Workbench can easily display, in real time, data from running embedded systems, on graphical elements such as gauges, meters, bar graphs, plots and numeric indicators. Developers using the tool can also write data, through sliders, switches and other virtual input devices.

A real-time kernel is not needed to take advantage of the capabilities that uC/Probe provides, but the tool offers a robust kernel-awareness package for developers whose systems are based on Micrium's uC/OS-III. This package consists of pre-populated data screens that report a plethora of kernel-related statistics.

"For application-level debugging, a high-level tool such as uC/Probe is much more suitable than its lower-level counterparts," noted Jean J. Labrosse, Founder, President and CEO of Micrium. "A complex embedded system, composed of several tasks executing interrelated duties, cannot be efficiently debugged with breakpoints at the C level. The new TCP/IP bridge between C-SPY and uC/Probe will expand Embedded Workbench's C-level debugging capabilities, while enabling uC/Probe to support more target architectures."

The new C-SPY plug-in for uC/Probe will be included in an upcoming release of Embedded Workbench. A free evaluation version of uC/Probe is available now from Micrium's Web site.
