Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

District Administration Magazine Editors Again Pick x2VOL as a Top Education Product

x2VOL by intelliVOL is now a twice-honored District Administration Readers’ Choice Top 100 Product. In 2011 and 2012, District Administration editors picked x2VOL—an online tracking and reporting platform for schools to manage the hours students give to community service—from more than 1,000 reader-submitted nominations. Less than ten percent of nominations are named to the Top Products list where they are highlighted in the December issue and acknowledged throughout K-12 education.

The annual District Administration Readers’ Choice Top 100 Products award recognizes leaders in the education industry, and provides superintendents and other senior school district leaders with the unique opportunity to learn about education products and how they contribute to the success of districts around the country.

“The record number of nominations we received this year was astonishing,” said District Administration’s executive editor, Odvard Egil Dyrli. “There were so many excellent recommendations from school administrators who shared how the products made significant differences in their districts, and choosing the Top 100 proved to be challenging and difficult. We are delighted to announce the honorees for 2012 and trust that the list will be a valuable resource for our readers.”

With x2VOL, school administrators can monitor activities, post opportunities, track and approve their students’ volunteer hours and service learning projects. Non-profits post and manage their own needs in the secure x2VOL database and verify student hours. Students can also use the x2VOL mobile app to quickly log their hours, write reflections, and submit hours to school advisors for approval, which streamlines management by allowing on-the-go reporting for the iPhone® and for Android™ devices.

x2VOL is proven to boost volunteerism because it makes it easier to match students with nonprofits and service groups. In addition to easing the traditionally cumbersome paper-based process of managing student community service, x2VOL allows students to quickly and accurately create reports for college applications.

intelliVOL is being recognized in other tech circles as well. intelliVOL has been selected as an innovative tech company by organizers of the Dallas Digital Summit being held December 4-5 and will participate in the Demo Showcase. Roughly 700 tech industry leaders and innovators will attend the Summit but only a dozen companies will be featured in the Showcase. Ms. Pitman will tweet her experiences at the summit: @x2VOL using #DDSUM2012.
