WINNIPEG, MANITOBA -- (Marketwire) -- 12/03/12 -- The Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission for Manitoba has submitted its report to the Chief Electoral Officer of Canada. The report, which redraws the province's federal electoral map, was tabled in the House of Commons today. The commission has adjusted the boundaries of 12 electoral districts out of a possible 14. The electoral boundaries of Charleswood-St. James-Assiniboia (to be renamed Charleswood-St. James-Assiniboia-Headingley) and Winnipeg Centre have remained unchanged. The report follows the public hearings that took place across the province between October 9 and 19, 2012. "As an independent body, the approach of the commission has been non-partisan. We would like to thank all Manitobans who participated in this important democratic exercise of determining fair and reasonable boundaries for Manitoba's 14 ridings. The information and opinions provided enriched our understanding of the diversity of our province's communities," said the Honourable Justice Richard Chartier, chair of the three-member commission.
