I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

MetaWatch and moj.io Enter Into Joint Marketing And Development Agreement Connecting Cars With Smart Watches

VANCOUVER, BC -- (Marketwire) -- 12/05/12 -- moj.io, (mo-jee-o) the world's first open platform for car apps, today announced it entered a joint marketing and development agreement with MetaWatch, a design and technology development company focused on integrating stylish watches with relevant mobile technology.

Under the terms of the agreement, moj.io and MetaWatch will work together to promote and integrate their products, technology and services to support app developers and consumers by connecting their cars with smart watches.

"Thanks to MetaWatch, apps like moj.io's AutoText and DriveSmart™ can not only reduce driver distraction for consumer and commercial drivers, we can deliver messages right on the driver's watch, so they can put the phone down and concentrate on driving. This partnership brings a new level of human-to-machine integration into the business processes that makes driving safer and more productive," said Jay Giraud, chief executive officer, moj.io.

"MetaWatch functions as an always on and always available glanceable display," said Bill Geiser, chief executive officer, MetaWatch. "Combined with moj.io's open platform for cars, MetaWatch will now be able to safely and effortlessly deliver important driver information such as alerting a driver who's nodding off at the wheel, or who has had too much to drink. The integration of our SDK (software development kit) with moj.io's will open up exciting new possibilities."

The moj.io platform SDK provides a wide range of data from the vehicle computer, including odometer reading, speed, rpm, engine performance, current gear, on/off states and information from sensors throughout a vehicle. Once plugged into a car's OnBoard Diagnostics port, the moj.io device provides additional data about the vehicle from its built-in accelerometer and GPS, and is delivered to the cloud in real-time over a cellular network.

The MetaWatch Widget SDK lets developers create smartphone-resident applications that leverage the MetaWatch display and internal system resources including its accelerometer, vibrating motor, buttons, and other watch components.
